My name is Richard Rodgers. I’m currently a junior at The University of Massachusetts Amherst studying journalism. In my podcasting and reporting class this semester, I recorded several audio stories in order to gain experience. This is a sample of my work including three, different stories. I hope you enjoy.

  1. UMass Pandemic Story (https://soundcloud.com/user-928626970/pandemic-podcast-episode)
  • In this brief audio story, I discuss how the coronavirus has impacted campus life and the many gripes that students have with how the school handled the situation. As a significant part of my story, I talked with two UMass students and an advisor. I added their most significant quotes along with some commentary about the entire situation.

2. Samuel Rodriguez Jr. Profile Story (https://soundcloud.com/user-928626970/samuel-rodriguez-jr-profile-podcast)

  • In this story, I interviewed one of my classmates, fellow journalism major Samuel Rodriguez Jr. Rodriguez currently runs a podcast called Locked in Sports that has gained a lot of popularity over the past year. You’ll hear from Sam about his life journey, where he gets his motivation from, and why he decided to start the podcast. The story consists of several audio bites from our interview along with some commentary.

3. The New York Hoops Discussion, Episode 1 (https://soundcloud.com/user-928626970/richard-rodgers-1st-full-podcast-episode-mixdown)

  • This is the first episode of a podcast series where I discuss the Nets’ and Knicks’ recent success along with its impact on basketball culture in New York City. In this episode I talk with current Nets’ ticket-holder Doug Bearak and former Knicks’ season ticket holder Henry Asulin. Both currently live in New York City and have outstanding insight on the topic. Afterwards, I discuss Jeremy Lin’s career and how it permanently shifted the perception of basketball in New York.
